Why I Like Where I Live
The pictures behind the cut were taken from my lounge window on Saturday





For those who don't know New Zealand wood pigeons, yes, they are that big. I believe this is a young male. I think he was asking to be photographed as he flapped against the lounge window and then sat there and looked at me.

They're awesome... One flew very close to me when I was in Akaroa. They're loud too!

It's considered good luck if a kereru craps on your driveway. Mainly because it's not crapping on your windshield. :)

That is *awesome*. Also, your photos are really great, and I sodding love that hard diagonal of the wires and the dark tree in the first one.

I love Kereru - there's a pair around here that I see sometimes, and one super-awesome morning I saw three. But, for all that the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary is so close and we've plenty of bushy-bush around, that's pretty much it. I wish the Kaka would ever fly this direction!
